As the Chief of Interpretation, the incumbent manages the Interpretation Division at Grand Portage National Monument. Provides first line supervision and direction to a small staff of both permanent and seasonal positions; manages the park's volunteer program; assigns and reviews work; ensures that National Park Service interpretive standards and policies are met; develops and updates planning documents; oversees or contributes to the design of park interpretive or educational documents; maintains working relationships with the Grand Portage Band, whose land surrounds GRPO, to obtain support for and collaboration in the delivery of on-site and off-site education and public programming; and cooperatively serves as a member of the park's management team. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/26/2020-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. If a part-time work schedule is reflected, the hours must be annotated to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Experience:
Possess at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes coordinating, managing or directing interpretive programs; developing long range program plans; developing educational programs; managing interpretive staff or other similar work. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Have at least three full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education, a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a directly-related field such as natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. Course work in fields other than those specified above may be accepted if it clearly provides applicants with the background of knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance in this position. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
